What to do with your kids when you are making dinner???
Items needed:
Vase or drinking glass (smaller version)
Paper towel
Rubber band or string
Quarter, marble, or heavy small object
Water
Pencil
Instructions:
Fill vase with water ½ full. Put paper towel across the top and put rubber band around the vase over the paper towel. Put the quarter on top of the paper towel.
The pencil is now used to punch holes in the paper towel until the quarter drops into the bottem
Object:
For one child this is just fun to see how many times it takes to make the quarter drop. Have them count.
For more than one child they get one punch and then the other get their turn. They can still count
What Kids Learn:
Kids learn to count in a fun way. They learn to share. They learn about gravity, space and how the object drops differently in the air vs water. It is a fun way to distract them.
Tip:
Use several different objects so you do not have to dump out the water every time… Use a strainer to get the objects out as you dump the water out at the end of the fun time….
Tested:
This is a hit with all of my kids. It keeps them busy while I need to do something.
